Walk at Gyr y Cwm, near Lydham
April 2020 (Date TBC)
What to expect
Gyr y Cwm comprises 55 acres of grassland with a small Alder wood all of which had been grazed by sheep for many years.
To further the aim of habitat improvement and enrichment, the grazing was terminated at the end of March 2019, small ponds created and some native trees and shrubs planted. Once the shrubs are established some low density grazing is envisaged in the hope of creating a varied habitat with minimal management and maintenance needs.
The walk will focus on the effects of this first year’s work and the absence of sheep.
